Dodson & Horrell KwikBeet – 20kg

Unmolassed sugar beet pulp in flake form, ready to feed ten minutes after water goes on it rather than the overnight soak a traditional shredded beet demands. That alone changes how usable beet pulp is on a busy yard, and it removes the risk that comes with a bucket left to ferment in warm weather.

Because the molasses has been taken out, sugar sits at 5% and starch at 1% — low enough for laminitis-prone ponies, which is not true of molassed beet. What remains is highly digestible fibre at 16.5%, fermented in the hindgut to release energy slowly at an estimated 11 MJ/kg, plus a good deal of moisture, which is often the real reason people feed it.

Performance & Benefits
  • High in digestible fibre at 16.5%, naturally low in sugar at 5% and starch at 1%.
  • Ready to feed in ten minutes once soaked.
  • Adds succulence and moisture to a dry ration.
  • Molasses-free, so it suits horses and ponies prone to laminitis.
  • Works as part of a forage replacer for veterans and horses that struggle to chew.
<>
Suitable For
  • Horses and ponies needing extra succulence and slow-release calories.
  • Horses prone to laminitis, where molassed beet would be unsuitable.
  • Veterans and horses with difficulty chewing hay or haylage.
  • Adding moisture to the diet of a horse that drinks poorly.
  • Not a complete feed. It supplies no meaningful vitamin or mineral load — pair it with Daily Vitamins & Minerals.
<>
Feeding
  • Weigh KwikBeet dry, before soaking.
  • Add 500ml of water to every 100g and soak for ten minutes.
  • Feed 100g per 100kg bodyweight per day with free access to forage.
  • Do not exceed 600g per 100kg bodyweight per day in total.
  • Divide into at least two to three meals a day.
<>
Composition & Analysis
  • Composition: dried unmolassed sugar beet pulp. 20kg.
  • Crude protein 8.0%. Crude fibre 16.5%. Starch 1.0%. Sugar 5.0%.
  • Estimated digestible energy 11 MJ/kg.
<>
Care & Caution
  • Never feed dry. Beet pulp swells as it takes up water and can cause choke or colic if fed unsoaked.
  • Soak fresh for each feed. In warm weather a soaked bucket will start to ferment within hours.
