Dodson & Horrell Slim Down – 18kg

A low-calorie, high-fibre feed for the horse that needs to lose weight, built to be the whole bucket rather than one component of it. At an estimated 8.5 MJ/kg with 24% fibre, 5.5% starch and 3% sugar, the combined starch and sugar sits comfortably under 10%, and there are no cereal grains or molasses in the recipe at all.

The balancer is built in, which is the practical advantage: a horse on a restricted diet still needs its full vitamin and mineral requirement, and the usual solution of a small feed plus a separate balancer plus chaff turns into three products. Here the fibre content is high enough that a chaff is unnecessary, and it can be soaked for a horse that needs the meal slowed down further.

Performance & Benefits
  • Estimated 8.5 MJ/kg with 24% fibre — bulk without the calories.
  • Free from cereal grains and molasses, with combined starch and sugar below 10%.
  • Balancer built in, so no separate vitamin and mineral supplement is needed.
  • Biotin, zinc, methionine, nettle and seaweed provide hoof support.
  • Vitamin E and the QLC natural antioxidant blend support the immune system.
  • Probiotic Actisaf yeast supports healthy digestion on a high-fibre ration.
  • High enough in fibre that no chaff need be added, and it can be soaked.
