At 27% protein and 15% fat it carries the energy a growing pup needs to build muscle and stamina, which is considerably more than an adult food provides — feeding a puppy on adult food is a common and costly mistake.

Chicken meal leads the recipe, supported by wholegrains and a notably full additive package: omega-3s, prebiotics MOS and FOS for digestive health, antioxidants for immunity, and glucosamine with chondroitin for developing joints. Marine algae and a herb blend are included too. Free from artificial colours, flavours and sugars.

Feeding

• Introduce gradually over several days when changing from the breeder's food.

Care & Caution

• Overfeeding large-breed puppies risks skeletal problems. Feed to a growth curve rather than to appetite.
• Move on to an adult food once growth is complete — puppy food fed to a mature dog will put weight on.
