Equigrow Real Farmyard Manure – 40L, Composted and Peat-Free
This is exactly what the name says: composted horse manure with straw and wood shavings, and nothing else. No green waste, no coir, no spent mushroom compost — the three things that most often pad out a bag sold as farmyard manure.
Manure works slowly. It feeds as it breaks down rather than all at once, which is why it suits a vegetable plot or a rose bed you are managing across a whole season rather than a plant that needs picking up this week.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Composted horse manure, straw and wood shavings — no green waste, coir or mushroom compost.
- Feeds slowly as it breaks down, supplying nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium along with calcium, sulphur and magnesium.
- Improves soil structure and moisture retention as well as fertility.
- Helps break up heavy clay and gives body to sandy ground.
- Peat-free, with no fillers, bulkers or synthetic additives.
- 40 litre bag, easy enough to carry down an allotment path.
Suitable For
- Vegetable plots and allotments wanting a natural, slow-release feed.
- Rose beds and flower borders.
- Shrubs and general planting where structure needs improving as much as fertility.
- Heavy clay and light sandy soils alike.
- Not a potting compost. Seedlings and young plants need a fine, low-nutrient medium — Equigrow's Organic Green Compost, screened to 10mm, is the gentler choice there.
How to Use
- Dig it into the soil and let it break down naturally.
- Equigrow publish no application depth, so none is given here — judge it by the state of the ground.
- Usable all year round, because Equigrow only bag it once it is fully composted.
- Keep it off the stems and crowns of plants when mulching.
- Do not apply to frozen, snow-covered or waterlogged ground.
Specification
- 40 litre bag, approximately 18.5kg. Barcode 5060783790104.
- Composted horse manure with straw and wood shavings. Peat-free.
- Contains nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium plus calcium, sulphur and magnesium.
- Equigrow publish no guaranteed NPK percentages — farmyard manure varies batch to batch — so no figures are quoted here.
- Ingredients are locally sourced, and Equigrow publish no screening size for the manure.
Care & Caution
- Wear gloves when handling composted manure and wash your hands afterwards, particularly before eating.
- Do not use it neat as a potting or seed compost. At this strength it will scorch seedlings and young roots.
- Damp a dry bag down before tipping it rather than breathing the dust.
- Keep it clear of stems and crowns when mulching, where trapped moisture causes rot.
