Equilibrium Simply Irresistible Fabulous Fruits – 1.5kg

Fabulous Fruits is the sweeter half of the Simply Irresistible pair: dried apples, apricots, strawberries, dates and sultanas, with a probiotic through it. Dried fruit is the strongest lever there is on a horse that will not eat, which is what makes this the version people reach for when a feed is being refused outright.

Like its vegetable sibling it is built around a 50g daily serving, so a 1.5kg pack runs to roughly a month. It is a flavouring and a treat rather than a feed, and the sweetness that makes it work is also the reason to keep the quantity to the stated serving.

Performance & Benefits
  • Dried apples, apricots, strawberries, dates and sultanas.
  • Includes a probiotic, which Equilibrium add for digestive support.
  • Strong aroma and flavour — the version to try when a horse refuses feed altogether.
  • Effective at masking wormers, bute and powdered supplements.
  • Cereal free, so the palatability does not come from grain.
  • Recyclable packaging.
<>
Suitable For
  • Horses that have gone off their feed entirely.
  • Masking medication and unpalatable supplements.
  • Rewarding and hand-feeding, in small amounts.
  • Not for laminitic, insulin-resistant, EMS or PPID horses without veterinary advice — this is the sweeter of the two Simply Irresistible products.
  • For a lower-sugar alternative with the same purpose, the Virtuous Vegetable 1.5kg we stock is built on carrots, beetroot, peas, parsnip and courgette.
<>
Feeding
  • Equilibrium’s serving is 50 grams per day, giving about thirty days from a 1.5kg pack.
  • Sprinkle over hard feed, chaff or soaked forage.
  • Use a smaller pinch when the aim is simply to hide a wormer.
  • Also available in 3kg.
<>
Composition & Analysis
  • Composition as published by Equilibrium: apples, apricots, strawberries, dates, sultanas, plus a probiotic.
  • Equilibrium publish no analytical constituents for this product on their website, so the figures printed on the pack are the ones to rely on.
  • Equilibrium state that a small sprinkle or handful adds only a few grams of sugar and trace amounts of starch.
  • Earlier copy on this page carried a protein, oil, fibre, ash and sodium analysis and named a specific live yeast. Neither appears in what Equilibrium publish, so both have been removed rather than repeated unsourced.
  • Earlier copy also omitted strawberries, which Equilibrium do list in this recipe.
<>
Care & Caution
  • Dried fruit is high in sugar. Do not feed this to a laminitic, insulin-resistant, EMS or PPID horse without veterinary advice.
  • Keep to the 50g daily serving; it is a topping, not a bucket feed.
  • Introduce it over several days rather than all at once.
