Equilibrium VitaMunch Calm Munch – 1kg

A 1kg compressed block of high-temperature dried timothy grass — 95% of the mix — fortified with magnesium oxide, B vitamins, camomile, hops and vervain. It is low calorie, low sugar and cereal free, so it can go to an excitable horse without adding the very thing that tends to make excitability worse.

Equilibrium describe the calming effect as working three ways, and the first two are the ones with the clearest mechanism: a compressed block takes a long time to eat, which satisfies the urge to forage, and a horse that is eating is a horse that is occupied. The herbs are traditional rather than proven — camomile for nervous tension, hops for restlessness — and sit at 0.3%, 1% and 0.15% respectively.

Performance & Benefits
  • 95% high-temperature dried timothy grass, low calorie, low sugar and cereal free.
  • Fortified with magnesium oxide, B vitamins, camomile, hops and vervain.
  • Compressed form extends eating time, supporting natural foraging and gastric health.
  • Chewing produces saliva, which buffers stomach acid.
  • Feed wet or dry, in a munch net, bucket, stable, field or horsebox.
<>
Suitable For
  • Horses and ponies that are nervous or anxious by nature.
  • Stressful situations — a change of routine or yard, or a farrier visit.
  • Travelling and competition days.
  • Horses on box rest, or as a distraction when a stable companion goes out.
  • The herbs are traditional rather than clinically proven. A horse whose behaviour has changed suddenly needs a vet, not a fibre block.
<>
Feeding
  • Feed as a standalone snack, or in a munch net to slow an eager feeder down.
  • Soak to create a warm mash for a horse with poor dentition, or in winter.
  • Feed a soaked block straight away, before mould can develop.
  • An opened pack keeps for up to a week in a cool, dry place.
<>
Composition & Analysis
  • Composition: timothy grass (high temperature dried, 95%), alfalfa, magnesium oxide, salt, hops (1%), camomile (0.3%), vervain (0.15%), rapeseed oil, vitamins.
  • Pack: 1kg block.
  • Equilibrium publish no full nutritional analysis for Calm Munch, so none is stated here.
<>
Care & Caution
  • Vervain is a prohibited substance under some competition rules. Check the current FEI and BEF lists before feeding to a competing horse.
  • A soaked block spoils quickly. Do not leave one standing.
