Equimins Fly Repellent Spray – 750ml

This is Equimins’ standard Fly Repellent in the 750ml trigger bottle, and it is worth being clear about what is in it: DEET at 6.5% w/w, IR3535 at 1.25% w/w and PMD from hydrated cyclized Eucalyptus citriodora oil at 1.5% w/w. That is a proper insect repellent formulation, not a scented summer spray.

The three actives work on different insect receptors, which is why the combination holds up against horseflies, midges and mosquitoes rather than just nuisance houseflies. It is applied by sponge rather than sprayed at the horse, at Equimins’ stated rate of 15g of product per square metre of animal.

How to Use

• Patch test on a small area before the first full application.
• Apply to a sponge and gently rub onto the coat rather than spraying into the air.

• Keep it away from the eyes, mouth, genitalia and any other sensitive area.
• Reapply as conditions require; Equimins describe it as long lasting but give no hours.

Specification

• 750ml trigger spray. Equimins also do 250ml quiet spray, 500ml trigger, 1 litre, 2.5 litre and 5 litre.
• Actives: ethyl butylacetylaminopropionate 1.25% w/w, N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide 6.5% w/w, Eucalyptus citriodora oil hydrated cyclized 1.5% w/w.
• Equimins also make a Fly Repellent Extra Strength in 500ml and 750ml, with IR3535 raised to 15% and DEET reduced to 1.25%.
• Earlier copy on this page described the product as chemical-free and made from essential oils from six natural sources. Equimins publish the three actives listed above and no such claim, so it has been corrected.

Care & Caution

• Contains DEET. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, genitalia and other sensitive areas, and wash your hands after applying it.
• Patch test before the first use and stop if the skin reacts.

• Keep out of reach of children. Do not use on broken or sore skin.
• DEET can soften and mark some plastics and synthetic tack, so keep it off rugs, bridles and clipper housings.
