Equine America Copper-Plus Powder – 1kg

Copper-Plus is Equine America's targeted copper and zinc powder, sold in a 1kg tub. A 20g daily measure supplies 100mg of copper and 100mg of zinc, half of each from a glycine chelate and half from the sulphate or oxide form, alongside 500mg of vitamin E, 100mcg of vitamin B12 and 0.2mg of selenium.

Copper matters because much UK forage is low or marginal in it, and because iron, sulphur and molybdenum in the diet compete with what copper there is. At the horse rate of 20g a day, a 1kg tub lasts 50 days; at the 15g small-pony rate it runs to about 66 days. Equine America publish this as a maximum of 20g daily unless you are working to professional advice.

Performance & Benefits
  • 100mg copper and 100mg zinc per 20g measure, each half chelated and half inorganic.
  • 500mg vitamin E per 20g, which is a meaningful antioxidant dose rather than a token one.
  • Zinc is supplied alongside copper, which keeps the ratio between the two sensible.
  • 100mcg vitamin B12 and 0.2mg selenium per day at the horse rate.
  • Equine America state Copper-Plus is BETA NOPS and UFAS accredited and suitable for horses competing under FEI regulations and the Rules of Racing.

Suitable For
  • Horses and ponies on forage known or suspected to be low in copper.
  • Diets carrying high iron, sulphur or molybdenum, which work against copper uptake.
  • Owners acting on a forage analysis or blood result rather than guessing.
  • Horses already on a balanced diet who need one mineral topped up, not a broad supplement.
  • Not the right product if you want general vitamin and mineral cover across the board — a full broad-spectrum balancer suits that better than a single-mineral powder.
<>
Feeding
  • Horses and large ponies: 20g daily. A 20g measure is enclosed.
  • Smaller ponies: 15g daily.
  • Do not exceed 20g a day unless a vet or nutritionist has told you to.
  • 1kg tub: 50 days at the 20g horse rate, roughly 66 days at the 15g pony rate.
  • Feed mixed into the daily bucket feed as part of a balanced diet.

Care & Caution
  • Copper accumulates. Do not stack this with a balancer, a hoof supplement or a broad mineral mix that also supplies copper without checking the totals first.
  • Sheep must not have access to feed containing supplementary copper at these levels.
  • If you suspect a copper deficiency, get forage analysis or bloods done rather than supplementing on a hunch.
