Equine America Magnitude Powder – 1kg
Magnitude is not a blended calmer. It is magnesium oxide at 97.5% with 2.5% calcium carbonate and nothing else, delivering 2.6g of elemental magnesium in a 5g scoop. Where a horse's tension is genuinely down to a magnesium shortfall, this addresses it directly and cheaply; where it is not, no amount of it will help.
The crude ash figure is 100%, which is simply what a pure mineral supplement looks like on a feed label. A 1kg tub holds 180 days at the full rate, and Equine America set 5g a day as both the recommended dose and the ceiling unless a vet or nutritionist says otherwise.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Magnesium oxide 97.5% and calcium carbonate 2.5% — no herbs, fillers or flavourings.
- 2.6g of elemental magnesium per 5g serving, from 4.88g of magnesium oxide.
- Magnesium is required for normal nerve and neuromuscular transmission.
- One 5g scoop a day, so a 1kg tub covers roughly six months.
- No sugar, no alfalfa carrier and no dextrose, so it adds nothing to the ration but the mineral.
- BETA NOPS and UFAS accredited, and suitable for horses competing under FEI regulations.
Suitable For
- Horses whose tension or spookiness is thought to have a magnesium element.
- Owners who want to control the magnesium dose precisely rather than through a blend.
- Horses on a forage-based diet low in magnesium.
- Yards wanting a straight mineral to use alongside an existing feed programme.
- A horse needing L-tryptophan and B vitamins as well as magnesium will do better on Equine America's Super So-Kalm Powder, which carries all three.
Feeding
- For a 500kg horse: 5g per day. Maximum 5g per day unless you are acting on specialist advice from a vet or nutritionist.
- A 5g measure is enclosed.
- A 1kg tub is roughly a 180-day supply.
- Mix into the daily feed. Magnesium oxide is not especially palatable, so add it to a feed the horse likes.
- Equine America code 243-UK.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: magnesium oxide (97.5%), calcium carbonate (2.5%).
- Analytical constituents: crude ash 100%, magnesium 52.7%, calcium 1.0%, sodium 0.05%, acid insoluble ash 2.1%.
- Per 5g serving: magnesium oxide 4.88g providing 2.6g elemental magnesium, calcium carbonate 130mg providing 50mg calcium.
Care & Caution
- Equine America set 5g a day as the maximum as well as the recommended dose. Do not exceed it without advice from a vet or a registered nutritionist.
- Magnesium is present in balancers, calmers and many compound feeds. Add up the total daily magnesium before feeding this on top of another supplement.
- Too much magnesium causes loose droppings. If that appears, stop and take advice rather than pushing through.
