Farmer Scott's Sunflower Hearts – 2kg
This is the small bag of Farmer Scott's sunflower hearts — 2kg of dehusked kernels, enough to keep one or two feeders going for a few weeks. Hearts have no shell, so nothing accumulates under the feeder and nothing needs sweeping off a patio.
The trade-off with a shelled seed is that it takes up moisture readily, so a bag you can finish in a month is often the better buy than a sack that sits half-used in a damp shed. That is the case for this size rather than the 12.55kg.
<>Performance & Benefits
- 2kg of dehusked sunflower kernels — no shells, no waste beneath the feeder.
- A size that gets used up while it is still in good condition.
- Accepted by more garden bird species than almost any other single seed.
- Feeds through standard seed feeder ports, and works on a table or ground tray too.
- Easy to store indoors in a cupboard or bin rather than needing shed space.
Suitable For
- One or two feeders, topped up every few days.
- Patios, decking and paths, where husks would otherwise need sweeping.
- Trying sunflower hearts for the first time without committing to a sack.
- Not economical if you fill several feeders daily — the 12.55kg bag of the same hearts is the sensible size then.
Feeding
- Fill a seed feeder, bird table or ground tray, on their own or stirred into a seed mix.
- Top up little and often; hearts spoil faster than seed in its shell once damp.
- Wash and dry feeders regularly, and shift the feeding point occasionally.
- Reseal the bag after each fill and keep a dry scoop with it.
- Farmer Scott's publish no feeding rate for hearts, so go by what the birds take.
Composition & Analysis
- 2kg bag. Barcode 5026132035777.
- Dehusked sunflower hearts. No oil, protein, fibre or moisture figure is published by Farmer Scott's, and none is given here.
- No aflatoxin or mycotoxin testing statement is published for this or any other Farmer Scott's bird food.
- Unusually for a 2kg bag, the barcode here uses the 5026132 Henry Bell prefix rather than Farmer Scott's own 5061043 — their other 2kg bags use 5061043.
