The Worcester is Gor Pets' quilted country coat: a water-resistant quilted outer over a fleece lining, made in the UK and cut in twelve sizes from 8in to 30in. It is the coat for cold, damp British walks rather than for standing out in a downpour — Gor Pets call the outer water-resistant, not waterproof.

This is the 12in, which means a back length of 30cm measured from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. Neck and girth both adjust on hook-and-loop straps, so the same size covers a range of body shapes, and there is an eyelet in the back for a lead to pass through to a collar or harness.

How to Use

• Measure your dog from the base of the neck to the base of the tail, and choose the size nearest that length. Chest and neck then adjust.
• Lay the coat over the back, fasten the neck strap first, then the girth strap.
• Leave two fingers' slack under each strap — tight straps rub at the armpit and the throat.
• Thread the lead through the back eyelet to a collar or harness worn underneath.
• Machine wash at 30°C and dry naturally. Do not tumble dry the fleece lining.

Care & Caution

• Take the coat off indoors and before crating. Hook-and-loop straps can catch on crate bars and on other dogs' collars.
• Do not leave it on a wet dog. A damp fleece lining against the skin causes rubs and chills rather than preventing them.
• Check under the girth and neck straps for rubbing after the first few wears, particularly on short-coated dogs.
• The back eyelet is a pass-through for a lead, not an attachment point. Clip the lead to a collar or harness, never to the coat.
