GWF Nutrition Joint Aid Plus for Horses – 3kg Pouch

Joint Aid Plus is GWF's full-strength joint supplement, fed as 2mm pellets. Glucosamine sits at 2.5%, MSM at 1% and hyaluronic acid at 1%, with turmeric extract at 3,000mg per kilo, grape seed extract at 1,600mg and piperine at 105mg to help the curcumin get absorbed.

Glycine and proline, the two amino acids collagen is largely built from, go in at 2,100mg per kilo each. The pellet itself is fibre rather than filler — dried sugar beet pulp, hemp seed husks, oats and linseed expeller — and GWF publish two rates, so you can drop to maintenance once a horse has settled.

Feeding

• Maintenance: 25g daily for ponies, 50g daily for horses.
• Full support: 50g daily for ponies, 100g daily for horses.
• Mix into the normal feed. A 3kg pouch is about 30 days at the full-support horse rate.
• Allow four to six weeks before judging the effect, then drop back to maintenance.
• Fresh water at all times.

• Composition: dried sugar beet pulp, hemp seed husks, oats, oat flour, linseed expeller, 2.5% glucosamine, oat bran, vegetable oils and fats, cane molasses, 1% MSM, 1% hyaluronic acid, 0.5% peppermint leaves, yeast products, calcium sulphate, dried blackcurrant, calcium carbonate, maize, pomegranate, rosemary, vegetable powder.
• Additives per kg: vitamin C 1,470mg, manganese chelate 48mg, turmeric extract 3,000mg, grape seed extract 1,600mg, piperine 105mg, glycine 2,100mg, proline 2,100mg.
• Analytical constituents: crude protein 16.7%, crude oils and fats 7.8%, crude fibre 14.1%, crude ash 7.9%, sodium 0.1%.
• Our previous copy listed chondroitin and a collagen matrix. GWF's current declaration contains neither — hyaluronic acid, glycine and proline are what is actually in it.
• Supplied in a 3kg pouch, the only pack size GWF list.

Care & Caution

• Contains hemp seed husks. GWF flag trace THC in their hemp-based Immune Aid and advise stopping that product two days before FEI competition. They publish no competition statement for Joint Aid Plus, so check with your governing body before competing on it.
