Horslyx Garlic Mini Licks – 12 x 650g

Twelve 650g Garlic minis, which at Horslyx's own reckoning of roughly three days a tub is about five weeks of licks for one horse, or a season's worth of distractions for a small yard. Buying the case is what people do once they have found the minis actually work on their horse.

The mini carries the same Garlic Balancer as the big tubs — pure garlic oil worked into the vitamin, mineral and trace element package — so it is a fly-season reward rather than a sugary treat. Garlic is also the lowest-sugar lick Horslyx make, at 30% against 33% for the rest of the range.

Performance & Benefits
  • Twelve hand-held 650g tubs of Garlic Balancer, each about three days' supply for one horse.
  • Pure garlic oil, which Horslyx include as a natural way to help deter biting insects.
  • Sugar at 30% — the lowest in the Horslyx Balancer range.
  • Sodium at 3.5% and ash at 25%, both higher than the Original lick.
  • The full Horslyx vitamin and trace element package, including chelated copper and zinc.
  • A case keeps one in the lorry, one in the tack room and one by the stocks for the vet.
<>
Suitable For
  • Summer turnout, when midges and horseflies make a field miserable.
  • Yards that get through minis as rewards, distractions and boredom-breakers.
  • Clipping, loading, shoeing and veterinary handling, where a horse needs occupying.
  • Stretching work, held out to one side to ask for a bend.
  • Twelve minis will not balance a diet for long — Horslyx Garlic Balancer 5kg is the tub to feed continuously.
<>
Feeding
  • Horslyx give an expected intake of 250g a day for a 500kg horse, 200g for a 300kg pony and 300g for a 700kg horse.
  • A 650g mini is roughly three days for one horse, so the case runs to about thirty-six horse-days.
  • Offer one tub at a time and keep the rest sealed; the minis are not meant to be put out all together.
  • Introduce it slowly and monitor the intake rate; Horslyx note that consumption usually falls once a horse has got used to having a lick available.
  • Feed alongside forage and fresh water.
