Sky Blue is one of the ten colours in the Hy Sport Active palette, which is the reason to choose this shade specifically: the same colour runs across the body brush, dandy brush, hoof pick, sponge brush and bucket brush, so a grooming kit can be built to match rather than assembled by accident. Hy describe the bristles as long and stiff PP — long enough to reach the skin through a coat, stiff enough to shift mud that has set hard. It is a bigger, coarser brush than the body brush and is meant for the rough work: legs, belly, quarters and anywhere the horse has been lying down.

How to Use

• Use it only on dry mud. Wet mud smears and works further into the coat.
• Short flicking strokes with the lie of the coat, lifting the brush away at the end of each stroke.
• Follow with a soft body brush to lay the coat flat and bring the shine up.
• Tap it out regularly and rinse it under a tap when the bristles clog.
• Dry bristles-down so water runs out of the back rather than sitting in it.
