The 25kg bag of Hydrosoft compressed salt tablets, for any softener that is fed tablets rather than granules or blocks. This is the standard bag in most plumbers' vans and the one that makes sense once you know how fast your unit gets through salt — it is the cheapest per kilo of the tablet range and the least frequent trip to restock.

How to Use

• Fill to the level your softener manufacturer specifies, not to the top of the cabinet.
• Open the sack at the seam, stack the tablets in, and reseal the sack between refills.
• Top up before the tablet level falls below the brine water line.
• Store off a damp concrete floor — moisture welds tablets into one lump.
