Johnson's One Dose Wormer for Cats and Kittens

This is a licensed veterinary medicine rather than a supplement: AVM-GSL classified, which means it has been through the Veterinary Medicines Directorate's approval process and can still be sold over the counter. One treatment is two small, film-coated, meat-flavoured tablets, and it deals with both roundworm and tapeworm in a single dose.

The two actives do different jobs. Pyrantel embonate at 230mg handles the roundworms — Toxocara cati and Toxascaris leonina are the common UK ones — while praziquantel at 20mg deals with tapeworm, which a cat that hunts or carries fleas will pick up repeatedly. Johnson's have been making veterinary products in Sutton Coldfield since 1921.

Performance & Benefits
  • Kills roundworm and tapeworm in one treatment.
  • Pyrantel embonate 230mg and praziquantel 20mg per treatment.
  • Two small film-coated tablets per treatment, flavoured to be taken more readily.
  • AVM-GSL: a licensed veterinary medicine approved by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate.
  • No prescription needed.
  • Made in the UK by Johnson's Veterinary Products.
<>
Suitable For
  • Cats and kittens over six weeks of age.
  • Routine worming as part of a regular parasite programme.
  • Cats that hunt, or that go outdoors.
  • Not for kittens under six weeks, and not for dogs — Johnson's One Dose Wormer for dogs is sized by bodyweight instead.
<>
How to Use
  • Dose by the cat's bodyweight, following the instructions in the pack.
  • Give the tablets directly, or hidden in a small amount of food.
  • Worm regularly rather than only when you see a problem; Johnson's recommend being proactive.
  • Treat for fleas alongside worming, since fleas carry tapeworm larvae and a cat reinfects itself by grooming.
<>

Care & Caution
  • A veterinary medicine. Read the pack insert before use and follow the dosing instructions exactly.
  • Do not use on kittens under six weeks of age.
  • Underdosing leaves worms behind and overdosing is avoidable — weigh the cat rather than estimating.
  • Do not give it to a cat that is ill, debilitated or already under veterinary treatment without asking the vet first.
  • Keep well out of reach of children and other animals, and wash your hands after handling the tablets.
