Julius-K9 IDC Powerharness – Red, Size 2
Size 2 covers a chest of 71–96cm and a dog of roughly 28–40kg: labradors, German shepherds, boxers, most rescue crossbreeds of any real substance. It is the size the IDC sells most of, and the one where the design earns its keep, because a 35kg dog that lunges puts real load through whatever it is wearing.
That load is the reason for the saddle. Rather than the lead pulling on a single point at the neck, the clip sits on a rigid-feeling back panel and the force is taken across the ribs and shoulders. The red version carries the same reflective stitching as the rest of the range, which matters on a winter lane.
<>Performance & Benefits
- OEKO-TEX certified, antiallergenic lining against the dog's coat.
- Saddle section takes the pull of the lead across the back rather than into the spine.
- Chest strap is set at a deliberate angle so the shoulders stay free to swing.
- High-visibility reflective stitching worked into the edging and chest strap.
- Interchangeable hook-and-loop patches on both sides, readable from above and from the side.
- Made in the EU from German textiles, on ISO 9001 certified production.
- Top handle for close control in traffic, at gates and when passing other dogs.
Suitable For
- Dogs with a chest of 71–96cm, around 28–40kg, measured behind the front legs.
- Labradors, German shepherds, boxers, pointers and larger crossbreeds.
- Owners of a dog that pulls, who want the load off the neck and onto the chest.
- Walking, training and travel where a handle is genuinely useful.
- Not enough range for a 40–70kg dog — that is Size 3, and 70–90kg takes Size 4.
How to Use
- Measure right round the chest four fingers behind the front legs. Julius-K9 are explicit that weight is a guide and the chest measurement decides the size.
- Where your dog falls between two sizes, take the one whose range puts your measurement in the middle rather than at an end.
- Open the chest strap, place the saddle over the back, pass the strap underneath and close it.
- Set the tension so a flat hand slides under and the saddle does not twist when the lead goes tight.
- Fold and secure the handle when it is not being used.
Specification
- Size 2: chest 71–96cm, dog weight 28–40kg — Julius-K9's own chart.
- Colour red. Top handle, fixed with a rubber flap and popper on sizes 0 to 4.
- OEKO-TEX certified antiallergenic lining, German textiles, ISO 9001 certified EU production.
- High-visibility reflective stitching. Interchangeable hook-and-loop side patches.
- Julius-K9 publish no crash-test result for the buckle, so no crash-test claim is made here. They also state metal parts are being replaced with a strong plastic, so the lead ring may be either.
Care & Caution
- The handle stops a dog; it does not lift one. A 40kg dog hauled up by the handle loads the saddle in a direction it was not designed for.
- Julius-K9 make no crash-test claim for this harness, so do not use it as a car restraint. Buy a restraint sold and tested for vehicle use.
- Take the harness off indoors. The handle and patch edges catch on crate wire, bedding and furniture.
- On a strong dog, check the chest strap and the stitching around the lead ring regularly and stop using the harness if either has given.
