KM Elite Bungee Tie – Burgundy

At 23" this is a trailer tie first and a stable tie second: long enough to let a horse stand comfortably in a bay, short enough that it cannot loop down where a foreleg can find it. The cord is elastic throughout, so a horse that shifts its weight backwards meets give rather than a hard stop.

One end carries a quick-release panic snap, the other a trigger clip. The panic snap can be released by hand even with the horse pulling against it, which is the difference between an incident and an accident when a horse goes back in a confined space. Burgundy is one of the twelve colours KM Elite list.

<>
Performance & Benefits
  • 23" elastic cord that absorbs the jolt of a horse shifting or startling at the tie.
  • Quick-release panic snap, operable by hand while the horse is leaning back.
  • Trigger clip on the headcollar end for quick fitting.
  • Sized for a trailer or horsebox bay as well as a stable ring.
  • KM Elite catalogue reference KBT.
<>
Suitable For
  • Travelling — tying in a trailer, horsebox or lorry bay.
  • Short periods at a stable tie ring for grooming or tacking up.
  • Horses that fidget, weave or shuffle back rather than genuinely set back.
  • Not the answer for a confirmed puller-back — that needs retraining, not a stronger or stretchier tie.
<>
How to Use
  • Clip the trigger end to the headcollar and the panic snap to a loop of breakable baler twine on the tie ring, never direct to the ring itself.
  • Adjust the twine so the horse can stand square and lower its head a little, without enough slack to get a leg over the tie.
  • Release by pulling the panic snap's sliding collar — it is designed to be worked by hand even while the horse is pulling back.
  • Stand to the side, not in front, when clipping on or releasing, so the cord cannot recoil into your face.
  • Wipe down and hang to dry; store out of sunlight, which degrades elastic over time.
<>
Specification
  • Length 23" (approximately 58cm).
  • Bungee cord with a quick-release panic snap and a trigger clip.
  • KM Elite list twelve colours: Hot Orange, Black, Burgundy, Green, Navy Blue, Purple, Grey, Hunter Green, Blue, Red, Pink and Teal.
  • KM Elite publish no cord diameter and no breaking strain, so neither is stated here. The ½" cord figure carried in some retail copy, ours included, is not theirs.
<>
Care & Caution
  • Elastic under tension recoils. If the cord or a fitting lets go it will snap back hard — never put your face over it, and replace the tie at the first sign of fraying or perished rubber.
  • Tie for short periods only and never leave a horse tied and unattended, which is KM Elite's own instruction.
  • Always tie to breakable twine. The stretch in a bungee tie is not a substitute for a link that will part under load.
  • Not a substitute for a properly fitted headcollar in good condition — check the headcollar as well as the tie.
