KM Elite Cider Vinegar – 5 Litre

The 5 litre is the yard size. At the 75–100ml daily rate KM Elite give for horses it runs one horse for somewhere between seven and ten weeks, or a small yard through a season, which is where cider vinegar starts to make sense as a routine feed rather than an experiment.

It is the same vinegar as the 1 litre: traditional, unpasteurised, pressed in the UK from British apples and still carrying the mother. Because it is unpasteurised it will throw a sediment in a container this size, so it wants shaking before each measure rather than decanting off the top.

Feeding

• Horses: 75–100ml daily, added to feed or to water.
• Dogs: 5–10ml, two to three times a week.
• Poultry and pigeons: 10ml per 1 litre of drinking water, or per kilogram of feed.
• At 75–100ml a day, 5 litres lasts roughly seven to ten weeks for one horse.
• Shake the container before every measure — the sediment settles quickly at this volume.
• Introduce it gradually rather than at full rate, and expect some horses to refuse a feed it has been poured over.

• Composition: apple cider vinegar, unpasteurised, produced in the UK from British apples and still containing the mother.
• KM Elite publish no analytical constituents for this product. No acetic acid percentage, no mineral levels and no vitamin figures are declared, so none are stated here.

• Being unpasteurised, the vinegar will throw a natural sediment. That is the mother, not spoilage.

Care & Caution

• Cider vinegar is acidic. Always add it to feed or to water — never syringe it neat, and do not offer it undiluted as the only drinking source.
• Not the right supplement for a horse with, or being treated for, gastric ulceration. Take veterinary advice before feeding an acid to an ulcerated stomach.
• Keep it out of the eyes when using it topically, and do not apply it to broken or already sore skin.
• Always leave a supply of plain, untreated water alongside any bucket the vinegar has been added to.
