KM Elite Garlic Granules – 1kg
The 1kg pack — KM Elite's product code GG1 — is the smaller of the two sizes they make, and the sensible one for a single horse or for finding out whether your horse will eat garlic before you commit to a season of it. It is human-grade garlic, dried and granulated, with nothing else in the tub.
Garlic is fed through the summer mainly because horses that eat it are widely reported to be bothered less by flies and midges, and because most horses take to the smell readily enough that it will carry a less palatable powder in alongside it. KM Elite also list appetite, respiratory support and antioxidant activity among the reasons people feed it.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Human-grade garlic granules, granulated rather than powdered, so it mixes into a damp feed without blowing about.
- Fed as a natural deterrent to flies and biting insects through the midge and fly season.
- KM Elite list appetite stimulation, respiratory support and antioxidant activity among its effects.
- KM Elite describe the granules as having higher stability of active ingredients than a powder.
- 1kg tub, the smaller of the two pack sizes in the range.
Suitable For
- Horses and ponies fed garlic through the fly season.
- A single horse, or a first trial before buying the larger pack.
- Horses that need a palatable carrier to get a less appealing supplement down.
- Yards feeding more than one horse, or a full season for one, will get better value from the KM Elite Garlic Granules 3kg.
- Garlic alone will not keep flies off a sensitive horse's face — the KM Elite Standard Fly Mask with Ears does the physical part of that job.
Feeding
- Add to the daily feed and mix through. Damp feed holds the granules better than dry.
- KM Elite publish no feeding rate for the granules, so feed strictly to the rate printed on the tub you receive.
- Introduce over several days rather than starting at full rate — garlic is strongly flavoured and some horses need to get used to it.
- Keep the lid on between feeds; garlic granules take up moisture and cake if left open.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: human-grade dried garlic granules. KM Elite list no other ingredient.
- KM Elite publish no typical analysis for this product — no protein, oil, fibre or ash figures — so none are stated here.
- KM Elite publish no feeding rate on their own listing either. Any daily gram figure you see on a retail listing is not KM Elite's.
- 1kg pack. KM Elite product code GG1. Also made as GG3, a 3kg pack.
- KM Elite's own listing for this product carries some plainly mis-pasted culinary wording about seasoning and kitchen use; the product is a horse supplement.
Care & Caution
- Garlic fed at high, sustained doses has been associated with Heinz body anaemia in horses. Because KM Elite publish no rate, do not free-feed it or guess upwards — follow the tub.
- Check the rules of your discipline before feeding any herbal supplement to a competition horse.
- Speak to your vet before feeding garlic to a horse that is anaemic, pregnant, or on medication.
