KM Elite Padded Headcollar – Raspberry, Pony

Raspberry is one of the thirteen shades KM Elite currently publish for this headcollar, and a deeper, less chalky pink than most of the pony headcollars on a tack room wall. This one is listed in the pony fitting, which is the practical size for anything from a large native down to a well-grown 13hh.

Underneath the colour it is the standard KM Elite build: double and triple weave lined nylon, padded headpiece and nosepiece, brass-colour clips and a throat lash clip so the headcollar can go round the neck before it goes over the ears.

Performance & Benefits
  • Raspberry holds its colour better than the paler pinks once it has been through a few muddy winters.
  • Double and triple weave lined nylon webbing, which is what gives the headcollar its stiffness and its life on a busy yard.
  • Soft padded headpiece and nosepiece, placed where a plain nylon headcollar normally marks a horse.
  • Brass-colour clips and fittings throughout, including a throat lash clip.
  • The throat lash clip lets you fasten the headcollar round the neck first, which helps with a horse that lifts its head away from you.
  • Made in the same colour across KM Elite's matching lead ropes, so a set can be kept together per horse.
<>
Suitable For
  • Everyday handling — catching, leading, tying up, grooming and travelling.
  • Ponies, listed here in the pony fitting.
  • Children's ponies and small natives in daily work.
  • Yards that colour-code headcollars so the right one goes on the right horse.
  • KM Elite split the pony end of their range into XS (Small Pony) and Small (Large Pony) — if your pony sits between the two, check the size selector before ordering.
<>
How to Use
  • Fit the noseband about two fingers below the cheekbone, well clear of the soft part of the nose.
  • You should be able to slide a flat hand under the noseband and two fingers under the cheekpiece.
  • Adjust at the headpiece buckle, and use the throat lash clip rather than threading the whole headcollar over the ears.
  • Hand wash in warm water and air dry naturally. Do not tumble dry.
  • Rinse mud and sweat off before it dries into the weave, which is what stiffens nylon webbing over time.

Specification
  • Double and triple weave lined nylon, with a padded headpiece and nosepiece.
  • Brass-colour clips and fittings, including a throat lash clip.
  • Colour Raspberry, size Pony. KM Elite's size run is XXXS (Shetland), XXS (Colt), XS (Small Pony), Small (Large Pony), Medium (Cob), Large (Full) and XL (XFull).
  • KM Elite product code 1002069.
  • Listed here simply as Pony. KM Elite's own run distinguishes XS (Small Pony) from Small (Large Pony), and this store listing does not say which of the two it corresponds to.
  • KM Elite publish no neck, nose or headpiece measurements for these fittings, so none are stated here.
  • KM Elite describe the clips and fittings as brass-colour; older retail copy calls them solid brass, and the manufacturer's wording is the one used here.

Care & Caution
  • This is not a breakaway headcollar. The webbing and fittings are made not to give, so do not leave it on a horse turned out, loose in a stable or unattended in a trailer.
  • Tie to a loop of baler twine rather than straight to a fixed ring, so something breaks before the horse does.
  • Recheck the fit as the horse changes shape through the year — a headcollar left a hole too tight is what causes rubs on the nose and poll.
