KM Elite Padded Headcollar – Yellow, Large (Full)

Yellow is the easiest colour in this range to pick out at distance, which is the main reason people choose it — a headcollar left hanging on a gate, or a horse standing under a hedge at the far end of a field, is found faster in yellow than in navy or black. This is the Large, or Full, horse fitting.

It is otherwise the standard KM Elite headcollar: double and triple weave lined nylon, padded at the headpiece and nosepiece, with brass-colour clips and a throat lash clip. Yellow does show dirt, so expect to wash it more often than a dark colour.

Performance & Benefits
  • The most visible shade in the range, at distance and in poor light.
  • Double and triple weave lined nylon webbing, which is what gives the headcollar its stiffness and its life on a busy yard.
  • Soft padded headpiece and nosepiece, placed where a plain nylon headcollar normally marks a horse.
  • Brass-colour clips and fittings throughout, including a throat lash clip.
  • The throat lash clip lets you fasten the headcollar round the neck first, which helps with a horse that lifts its head away from you.
  • Made in the same colour across KM Elite's matching lead ropes, so a set can be kept together per horse.

Suitable For
  • Everyday handling — catching, leading, tying up, grooming and travelling.
  • Large (Full), KM Elite's standard horse fitting.
  • Horses around 15.2hh to 16.2hh, and anyone who wants to spot the headcollar quickly.
  • Yards that colour-code headcollars so the right one goes on the right horse.
  • Too big for a cob — Medium (Cob) is the fitting below it in the same range.
<>
How to Use
  • Fit the noseband about two fingers below the cheekbone, well clear of the soft part of the nose.
  • You should be able to slide a flat hand under the noseband and two fingers under the cheekpiece.
  • Adjust at the headpiece buckle, and use the throat lash clip rather than threading the whole headcollar over the ears.
  • Hand wash in warm water and air dry naturally. Do not tumble dry.
  • Rinse mud and sweat off before it dries into the weave, which is what stiffens nylon webbing over time.

  • KM Elite describe the clips and fittings as brass-colour; older retail copy calls them solid brass, and the manufacturer's wording is the one used here.

Care & Caution
  • This is not a breakaway headcollar. The webbing and fittings are made not to give, so do not leave it on a horse turned out, loose in a stable or unattended in a trailer.
  • Tie to a loop of baler twine rather than straight to a fixed ring, so something breaks before the horse does.
  • Recheck the fit as the horse changes shape through the year — a headcollar left a hole too tight is what causes rubs on the nose and poll.
