KM Elite Poly Lead Rope – Red, 6ft

A poly lead rope, 6ft long, finished with an extra-large brass snap. KM Elite build it as the hard-wearing alternative to cotton and rate it at ten times an average cotton rope's strength; horses that chew cotton ropes to pieces tend not to bother with poly.

Red is the classic bright in the range — a true, strong red rather than a burgundy or a raspberry. It is highly visible against grey, bay and black coats, and it is the colour most often used on a yard to mark the rope that goes with the difficult horse.

How to Use

• Clip the brass snap to the ring under the jaw of the headcollar, with the spring facing away from the horse.
• Lead from the near side with the slack folded across your palm — never coiled around your hand.
• Tie with a quick-release knot to a loop of breakable baler twine, never straight to a solid ring.
• Wipe with warm water and hang to dry; the poly sheds most mud without washing.

Care & Caution

• Poly this strong does not give way under load. Never tie a horse directly to a solid ring, post or trailer — always tie to a loop of breakable twine so something can part before the horse does.
• Never wrap the rope around your hand, wrist or waist. A horse that pulls back can burn or trap a hand in a coiled rope in an instant.
• Retire the rope if the core shows through the outer braid, or if the snap spring weakens or sticks.
