KM Elite Padded Headcollar – Orange, Medium (Cob)

A padded nylon headcollar in KM Elite's Medium fitting, which they call Cob — the size most cob-types, heavier natives and small horses take. The webbing is double and triple weave lined nylon, and the headpiece and nosepiece are both padded, so the load across the poll and the nose is spread rather than concentrated on a webbing edge.

Orange is the loudest colour KM Elite offer short of the fluorescents, and it has a practical use: an orange headcollar on a dark horse in a winter field is visible from the gate. It also makes a horse easy to identify at a distance on a busy livery yard.

Performance & Benefits
  • Double and triple weave lined nylon webbing, heavier and better finished than the single-layer nylon used on most yard headcollars.
  • Padded headpiece and padded nosepiece — the two places a headcollar most often rubs.
  • Brass-colour clips and fittings throughout, including the throat clip.
  • Medium is KM Elite's Cob fitting, one rung of a seven-size ladder.
  • Bright enough to spot on a dark horse across a winter field.
  • Hand washable in warm water, so it can go back on the horse the same day.
<>
Suitable For
  • Everyday catching, leading, tying up, grooming and the vet or farrier visit.
  • Horses that rub or lose hair under thin, unpadded nylon headcollars.
  • Yards colour-coding headcollars so each horse has its own.
  • Pairing with a KM Elite 6ft Poly Lead Rope in a matching or contrasting colour.
  • Too big for a Shetland or small pony, and too small for a big warmblood — KM Elite's XXXS (Shetland) and XL (XFull) fittings cover those ends.
<>
How to Use
  • Buckle on the near side, with the noseband sitting roughly two fingers below the cheekbone.
  • Adjust so two fingers lie flat between the noseband and the nose — tighter than that and the padding cannot do its job.
  • Clip the lead rope to the ring under the jaw rather than to a side ring.
  • Hand wash in warm water and air dry naturally. Do not tumble dry.

Care & Caution
  • This is a standard nylon headcollar, not a breakaway one. The webbing and fittings will not part under load, so do not leave it on a horse turned out unsupervised — a fixed headcollar can catch on a fence, a gatepost or a hind shoe.
  • Tie to a loop of breakable baler twine rather than directly to a solid ring or post.
  • Check the stitching, buckle tongues and clip springs before each use, and retire the headcollar once the webbing frays.
