KM Elite Stall Chain – Grey, 130cm

The 130cm length is the whole specification of a stall chain, and it is chosen to cross a standard stall opening with the chain pulled straight rather than hanging in a curve. Too much slack and a horse learns to lean into it; drawn straight, it reads as a boundary and most horses treat it as one.

Grey is the least conspicuous of the colours KM Elite offer and the one that shows dirt least in a working barn. Underneath the cover, the chain is built round an aircraft cord core, with a clip swaged onto each end so it can be taken down without tools.

<>
Performance & Benefits
  • Lets light and air into a stable without leaving the doorway open.
  • Extra-tough aircraft cord core rather than plain rope or plastic chain.
  • 130cm, which spans a standard stall opening.
  • Clip at each end, so it goes on and comes off in seconds with no tools.
  • Practical for a horse that is in and out of the box repeatedly through the day.
<>
Suitable For
  • Stables where ventilation and a view out matter, in warm weather or on box rest.
  • Horses that stand quietly and respect a barrier they can see.
  • Yards where a door has to be left open for airflow but the horse must stay in.
  • American barns and internal stabling with a fixed doorway either side.
  • Not suitable for a horse that leans, pushes or ducks under — that horse needs a solid closed door, or a full stable grille.
<>
How to Use
  • Fix a mounting bracket or a suitable ring to each side of the doorway at chest height, roughly level with the point of the horse's shoulder.
  • Clip one end to each side so the chain runs straight across the opening without sagging.
  • Unclip one end only to lead the horse in or out; leaving the other end attached keeps the chain off the floor.
  • Wipe the cover down when it gets muddy and check both clips and the swaged ends before each use.
  • A KM Elite four-hole steel mounting bracket is sold separately if the doorway has nothing suitable to clip to.
<>
Specification
  • Length 130cm, sized for a standard stall opening.
  • Extra-tough aircraft cord core inside a coloured protective cover.
  • A clip at each end for tool-free fitting and removal.
  • Colour: Grey.
  • Compatible with the KM Elite four-hole steel mounting bracket, sold separately.
  • KM Elite publish no breaking strain, no cord diameter and no clip rating for the stall chain, so none is stated here.
<>
Care & Caution
  • A stall chain is a visual and physical marker, not a secure barrier. KM Elite state plainly that it has a breaking point and should only be used where the horse is otherwise securely kept.
  • Never leave a horse unattended behind a stall chain, and never use one in place of a closed door for a horse that pushes, leans or has learned to duck under.
  • Set the height carefully. Too low and a horse can step over and become trapped; too high and it can get its head and neck under.
  • Replace the chain if the outer cover splits and exposes the cord, or if a clip no longer closes cleanly.
