A saucer flies. That is the whole argument for this shape over the rest of the AirDog range — thrown flat it sails rather than bounces, which gives a fast dog something to run under and catch out of the air instead of picking up off the ground.

The disc is covered in KONG's non-abrasive tennis material, so a dog catching it at speed is not taking the tooth wear that a hard plastic flyer or a felt tennis ball delivers, and there is a squeaker in the middle. This Medium/Large carries barcode 035585502205; KONG's own website does not currently list the Saucer shape.

How to Use

• Throw flat and low so the dog catches at chest height rather than jumping and twisting.
• Let it land and be picked up if your dog is young, old or joint-sore.
• Rinse sand and grit off after beach play, which wears the covering fast.
• Wash in warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly and dry before storing.
