This is the black Extreme-grade rubber ball with a cotton rope threaded through it, measuring 33cm end to end with a 7.6cm ball and weighing 304g. KONG size it Large, for dogs of roughly 30–65 lb (about 14–29kg), and make it in the USA from 100% natural rubber.

The rope changes what the ball is for. On its own a solid rubber ball is a fetch toy; with a metre-ish of rope through it, it is also a tug handle you can hold without your hand near the dog's teeth, and something you can launch a good deal further than you could throw the ball by hand.

How to Use

• Throw the ball, or hold the rope end and let the dog take the ball for tug.
• Keep tug low and horizontal rather than lifting the dog off its front feet.
• Rinse the ball in warm water; wash the rope and let it dry fully before it goes back in the toy box.
• Put the toy away between sessions rather than leaving it down all day.
• Trim frayed rope ends back; replace the toy once the strands start to unravel through.
