KONG Tug Toy – Medium
Two moulded rubber grips joined by a stretch of KONG's natural rubber, 32.4cm end to end, 12.1cm across the grips and 290g. The rubber gives under load and pulls back, which takes the jolt out of a hard tug — easier on a dog's neck and on your shoulder than a length of rope.
KONG make the Tug in one size only, listed as Medium for dogs of about 15–35lb (7–16kg), and it is made in the USA from globally sourced materials. They are explicit that it is an interactive toy rather than a chew toy and should not be left with a dog unattended.
<>Performance & Benefits
- 100% natural KONG rubber that stretches under load and springs back into shape.
- A moulded grip at each end, so your hand stays well clear of the dog's mouth.
- The stretch absorbs the jerk of a hard pull rather than passing it straight through.
- 290g and 32.4cm long — substantial in the hand without being awkward to hold.
- Rubber throughout, so it wipes clean and dries in minutes rather than staying damp like rope.
- Made in the USA from globally sourced materials.
Suitable For
- Dogs of roughly 15–35lb (7–16kg) — the one size KONG make.
- Owner-and-dog tug games and teaching a clean release.
- Training sessions where the toy is the reward.
- Dogs that pull hard and need the give that rubber has and rope has not.
- Not a toy to leave down, which KONG say plainly. For unsupervised chewing use the KONG Classic in Medium, red, or the KONG Extreme in Medium, black.
How to Use
- Take one grip, offer the dog the other, and pull side to side rather than lifting.
- Teach a release cue and finish each game with the toy coming back to you.
- Wash in warm soapy water and rinse; being rubber, it dries almost at once.
- Store it out of reach so it stays a toy the dog only sees with you.

- Bring it out for supervised play and put it away straight afterwards.
- Inspect the rubber for nicks and splits each time, and replace the toy once you find one.
- Check with your vet before playing tug with a dog that has a neck, jaw or dental problem.
