Leovet First Aid Propolis Gel – 350ml
Propolis is the resin honeybees collect and use to seal and protect the hive. leovet build this gel around it and describe it as carrying vitamins, resins and trace elements, with an antibacterial effect that supports wound healing and improves the protective function of the skin. It is a gel rather than a cream, so it stays put on a leg without being rubbed in hard.
leovet list it for abscesses, eczema, insect bites, minor skin injuries and tears, and single out the girth and saddle areas, the chest and the legs — the places tack and boots press. At 350ml the tub is big enough to live in the yard first aid box for a season rather than being finished on one leg.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Built on propolis, which leovet describe as containing vitamins, resins and trace elements from the beehive.
- leovet credit propolis with an antibacterial effect that supports wound healing.
- Stated by leovet to improve the protective function of the skin.
- leovet list it for abscesses, eczema, insect bites, minor skin injuries and tears.
- Gel consistency clings to a leg or a girth line instead of running off.
- 350ml tub, enough for repeated use across a season.
Suitable For
- Minor surface injuries, scrapes and skin tears.
- Insect bites and small irritated patches.
- Girth and saddle pressure areas, the chest and the legs, as leovet specify.
- Cracked heels and rubbed skin behind the pastern.
- Cleaning the area before treatment is a separate job — Leovet First Aid MED Wash Lotion is the soap-free wash for that.
How to Use
- Clean and dry the skin before applying — gel over dirt seals the dirt in.
- Take a small amount from the tub with clean hands or a clean applicator and spread thinly over the area.
- Reapply as the skin needs it while the area is healing.
- Keep the lid on and do not put dirty fingers back into an open tub.
- leovet publish no application frequency or quantity on their website, so none is stated here.
Specification
- 350ml tub, confirmed by leovet.
- Named active: propolis, a bee-derived resin.
- leovet publish no full ingredient list, no propolis concentration and no analysis for this gel, so none is stated here.
- Made by leovet Dr. Jacoby GmbH & Co. KG, Lahnau, Germany. Sold in Germany as Erste Hilfe Propolis-Gel. Barcode 4033081160116.
- Described by leovet as natural active ingredients from the beehive; it is a care product, not a licensed veterinary medicine.
Care & Caution
- Propolis is a bee product. Horses, and people applying it, can be allergic to bee products — patch test a small area first and stop if the skin reacts.
- For minor, superficial injuries only. Deep, dirty, bleeding or infected wounds, and anything involving heat, swelling or lameness, need a vet.
- Keep out of the eyes.
- Do not use it to cover an abscess that has not been assessed — sealing over pus does not help it drain.
- If you compete, check leovet's current FN/ADMR doping-relevance list; they publish no status on the product page.
