Leovet TamTamVet Intensiv – Insect Repellent Gel, 500ml

TamTamVet Intensiv is leovet's high-performance gel, and the claim behind it is about how the product is made rather than what is in it. leovet homogenise the repellent oils — blend them actively into a fine, stable emulsion — and state this increases the duration of the repellent effect so that it lasts up to four times longer. It is a duration claim, not a strength claim.

The gel form and the sponge supplied in the tub are what make it worth choosing over the TamTamVet spray. leovet describe the sponge as allowing the gel to be applied easily to tender parts of the body and to sensitive horses, without soiling the hands. There is no alcohol in it, which is a real consideration on thin, sore or recently rubbed skin.

<>
Performance & Benefits
  • Homogenised emulsion — leovet state the repellent effect lasts up to four times longer as a result.
  • Active substances from geranium oil and eucalyptus citriodora oil, with cedarwood oil in the blend.
  • Alcohol free, stated by leovet.
  • Sponge applicator included for targeted application on sensitive areas.
  • Gel stays where it is put, so nothing drifts towards eyes or airways.
  • Cedarwood oil is credited by leovet with reducing dandruff and hair loss alongside its repellent action.
<>
Suitable For
  • Horses that will not stand for a spray bottle.
  • Tender areas — face, ears, midline, sheath and udder.
  • Thin or sensitive skin, where an alcohol-based spray stings.
  • Long turnout days on midge and horsefly ground.
  • Covering a whole horse every morning is slow with a sponge — Leovet TamTamVet spray is the faster option for full-body work.
<>
How to Use
  • Apply to a clean, dry coat.
  • Load the supplied sponge with gel and work it over the areas you want protected.
  • Keep well clear of the eyes, nostrils and mouth.
  • Reapply after rain, washing or heavy sweating.
  • Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use — leovet's own instruction.

Specification
  • 500ml tub with sponge applicator, confirmed by leovet.
  • Active substances named by leovet: geranium oil and eucalyptus citriodora oil. Cedarwood oil is also listed in the blend.
  • Alcohol free. leovet publish no concentration for any active substance, so none is stated here.
  • leovet publish no protection duration in hours and do not name the individual insect species this gel covers, so neither is claimed here. The four-times figure is a duration multiplier, not a strength multiplier.
  • Biocidal product registration quoted by leovet: Reg.Nr. (BAuA) N-75569, HSE 10535.
  • Made by leovet Dr. Jacoby GmbH & Co. KG, Lahnau, Germany. Barcode 4033081200645.

Care & Caution
  • An insect repellent is a biocidal product. Use biocides safely and read the label before use.
  • Avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes. If it reaches an eye, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water.
  • Do not apply to broken, sore or already rubbed skin.
  • Patch test on a small area and wait a few hours before treating a horse for the first time.
  • Wash your hands after use and keep it out of reach of children.
  • leovet do not describe this product as a treatment for sweet itch, and no such claim is made here. Persistent itching or self-trauma needs a vet.
