NAF Linseed Oil – 5L

Cold-pressed linseed oil, extracted mechanically rather than with solvents, and fed for two reasons: slow-release energy that carries no starch at all, and the omega-3 fatty acids that start showing in the coat within a few weeks. NAF's composition is a single line — vegetable oil, crude linseed oil.

For a horse that needs condition but cannot take a starchy hard feed, oil is one of the few routes open. NAF are explicit that it should be introduced gradually so the horse's metabolism can adjust, and that a high-oil diet needs vitamin E fed alongside it.

Feeding

• Horses and ponies: 15–45ml, one to three tablespoons, daily.
• High-oil diets: a maximum of 100ml per 100kg bodyweight.
• Introduce gradually over a fortnight or more rather than at full rate.
• NAF put a 1L bottle at 15ml a day at around 66 days, so 5L covers roughly 330 days at that rate.
