The vegetable and herb version of Nature's Grub's scatter treat: cooked and whole cereals with carrot, parsnip and beetroot, plus seaweed, garlic, oregano and mint. It smells strongly of the herbs when the lid comes off, which is a fair guide to how much of it is actually herb.

Like the fruit mix it declares 13% crude protein, 4% oil and 4% fibre, and like the fruit mix it is a treat rather than a ration. Scatter it in the afternoon on dry ground and let the flock work through it. 1.2kg reusable bucket.

Feeding

• Scatter straight from the bucket. Nature's Grub recommend offering it in the afternoon.
• A handful per bird. Over-scattering dilutes the balanced ration underneath it.
• Birds eating whole cereals need insoluble flint grit available separately. The oyster shell in this mix is a calcium source for shell building, not a grinding grit — they are different jobs.
• Scatter onto dry ground, not into mud.
• Keep the lid on between feeds.
