Nerf Dog Rubber Squeak Tennis Armor Balls – 2.5in, 2 Pack
A plain tennis ball has two problems: the felt wears teeth down over time, and it splits and goes flat quickly. The Tennis Armor idea is to wrap the ball in a moulded rubber jacket, so the dog’s teeth meet rubber instead of abrasive felt and the ball keeps its shape for longer.
At 2.5 inches these are smaller than a standard tennis ball, which is deliberate — they are sized for small and medium breeds, and that same small size is exactly why they should not go to a big dog. Two come in the pack, which is the right number, because the second one is what lets you keep a fetch session going while the first is still being brought back.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Moulded rubber armour over the ball, so teeth meet rubber rather than abrasive tennis felt.
- 2.5 inch diameter — smaller than a standard tennis ball, sized for small and medium mouths.
- Squeakers fitted, so the ball rewards the pick-up as well as the chase.
- Supplied as a pack of two, which keeps a fetch session moving.
- Bright colours make them easier to spot in grass than a plain yellow ball.
- Holds its round shape better than an unarmoured tennis ball.
Suitable For
- Small and medium breeds.
- Fetch, chase and trick training where a second ball is useful.
- Dogs whose owners are worried about tennis felt wearing enamel.
- Ball launchers that take a 2.5 inch ball — check yours first.
- Genuinely too small for a large or giant breed, which can get a 2.5in ball to the back of the throat — the Nerf Dog Rubber Super Bounce Ball at 3.8in is the safer size there.
How to Use
- Throw or roll on open ground; two balls let you swap rather than wrestle one off the dog.
- Rinse under a tap and dry when they come back muddy.
- Check the rubber jacket for splits before each session.
- Store them out of reach between games so they stay fetch toys.
Specification
- 2.5 inch diameter. Pack of two.
- Tennis ball core with a moulded rubber outer and a squeaker.
- Barcode 810109521081.
- Nerf Dog publish the rubber compound and the exact colour pairing on the pack; we could not verify those directly from Nerf Dog, so nothing further is stated here.
Care & Caution
- A 2.5 inch ball is a choking size for a large dog. Keep these for small and medium breeds only, and never leave one with a big dog.
- Supervise play. Bin the ball as soon as the rubber splits or the squeaker is exposed.
- Not a chew toy — a dog that settles down to strip a ball should have it taken away.
- Do not let two dogs compete for the same ball; that is when one gets swallowed.
