Pure Performance – 15kg Horse Feed
Pure Performance – 15kg
Pure Performance is the highest-energy feed Pure make and the only one in the range built on cereal grain. Bruised oats supply fast-release energy while rapeseed oil and linseed supply slow-release energy, giving 12 MJ/kg — enough for racing, eventing and upper-level competition work, where a fibre-and-oil feed cannot keep both weight and power on a horse.
That performance comes from starch. At 23%, Pure Performance carries roughly ten times the starch of Pure Condition Mix, and it is the one feed in this range that is emphatically not for a metabolic horse. It is BETA NOPS and UFAS certified, so it is safe under competition prohibited-substance rules, but it is a feed for horses in genuinely hard work and nothing else.
<>Performance & Benefits
- 12 MJ/kg digestible energy, the highest in the Pure range.
- Bruised oats for fast-release energy alongside 8% oil for slow-release stamina.
- 21% fibre, so the cereal load sits on a fibre base rather than on its own.
- Built-in balancer supplying vitamins, minerals and trace elements.
- BETA NOPS and UFAS certified for competition use.
- Free from molasses, alfalfa, soya and nutritionally improved straw.
Suitable For
- Racehorses in training and horses eventing or competing at a high level.
- Horses in hard, fast work that cannot hold condition on fibre and oil alone.
- Horses needing both immediate power and stamina from the same ration.
- Competition yards needing a feed certified under BETA NOPS and UFAS.
- Not suitable for laminitic, EMS, PPID or ulcer-prone horses, or for good doers — Pure Easy, Pure Fibre Balance and Pure Working cover those, and Pure Condition Mix at 2% starch is the low-starch way to add weight.
Feeding
- Feed 400–600g per 100kg bodyweight per day — 2–3kg for a 500kg horse.
- Split the daily ration across at least two and preferably three feeds; large cereal meals are the principal risk at this starch level.
- Match the amount to the work actually being done, and cut it back on rest days.
- Introduce gradually over 10–14 days.
- Feed with generous forage and fresh water available at all times.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: bruised oats, grass chaff, oatfeed pellets, wheatfeed, vitamins and minerals, sunflower extract, dark distiller grains, rapeseed oil, linseed lozenges, full fat linseed meal, salt, unmolassed sugarbeet, di-calcium phosphate, fructo-oligosaccharides and limestone flour.
- Digestible energy 12 MJ/kg. Protein 13%. Oil 8%. Fibre 21%. Starch 23%. Naturally occurring sugar 4%.
- Calcium 0.9%. Phosphorus 0.4%. Magnesium 2.1 g/kg. Salt 0.7%.
- Certified under the BETA NOPS scheme and UFAS.
Care & Caution
- Starch is 23%. At the top of the feeding range a 500kg horse receives close to 700g of starch a day, so this feed is not suitable for horses with laminitis, EMS, PPID, insulin resistance or a history of gastric ulcers.
- Keep individual meals small. Starch that outruns small-intestine digestion passes into the hindgut, where it can cause acidosis and colic.
- Pure note it may not suit excitable horses; the fast-release element is real and will show in some.
- Cut the ration back on days off while keeping forage the same.
