Rowen Barbary ReadyMash – 20kg

ReadyMash is the middle of Rowen Barbary's three mashes — the blue bag — and it is built on soya hulls with porridge oats, micronised flaked maize and micronised flaked barley on top. It soaks in five minutes into a soft mash, which is why it gets used for horses with poor teeth and for horses that bolt a dry feed.

The declared analysis is 10 MJ/kg with 23.75% fibre, but starch is 19%. That makes it a cereal mash rather than a low-starch one, and the distinction matters: it is a fully balanced, moderate-energy feed for a normal horse, not a feed for a metabolic case.

Feeding

• Soak for 5 minutes with at least equal volumes of dry feed and water, or to your preferred consistency.

Care & Caution

• Starch is 19%. Descriptions elsewhere describe this as a low-starch feed; it is not one, and it is not suitable for a laminitic or insulin-resistant horse.
• Soak it fully before feeding. A part-soaked mash carries on swelling after it has been eaten.
