The Large Alpine is 75 x 60cm with 16cm walls, and it is the size at which Scruffs change the construction: from this size up the bed has a machine washable outer cover over a separate, water-resistant inner cushion. That matters in practice, because it means you wash a cover rather than trying to force a whole soaked bed through a domestic drum.

The champagne pile is a warm thick-cut faux fur, deep and soft rather than short and dense. At 75 x 60cm the sleeping area suits a collie, a springer or a slim labrador — a dog that can turn around comfortably inside the bolster rather than lying against it.

How to Use
  • Unzip or lift the outer cover away and take the inner cushion out before washing.
  • Wash the outer cover only — the water-resistant inner cushion is not machine washable.
  • Gentle machine wash at 30 degrees with a mild detergent.
  • Do not bleach and do not tumble dry. Dry the cover flat and refit it before use.
  • Scruffs warn that colour transfer may occur, particularly while wet.
  • Keep the bed away from open fires and heaters.
