The Noodle Dry Mat is a drying mat rather than a bed: 90 x 60cm of microfibre chenille, with the pile spun into 25mm noodles that hold many times their own weight in water. A dog that walks onto it wet leaves a good deal of that water in the mat instead of on the hall floor, and the gaps between the noodles let air through so the coat carries on drying while the dog lies there.

The underside is non-skid, which is what separates it from a folded towel — it stays where it is put in a car boot, a crate or at the bottom of the stairs rather than sliding away as the dog steps on. It washes at 30 degrees and comes out of the machine ready to go straight back down.

How to Use

• Lay the mat noodle side up with the non-skid backing against the floor.
• Walk the dog onto it straight from the door or the car and let it stand or lie there.
• Use a corner of the mat to rub down legs, chest and belly.
• Machine wash at 30 degrees. Do not bleach and do not tumble dry.
• Dry flat — the pile recovers its loft as it dries.
