Simple System HayCare – 20kg
HayCare is Timothy grass harvested deliberately late. Cutting at a mature stage drops the sugar and lifts the fibre, giving nutrition close to good-quality, high-fibre, low-sugar hay — which is exactly the point, because HayCare exists for horses that can no longer eat hay at all.
The 12mm pellets soak quickly into a soft mash that needs virtually no chewing. For a veteran with worn, loose or missing teeth, a soaked pelleted forage is the kindest option there is, and because this is pure forage with nothing added, there is no limit on meal size. A big bucket can be left down for the horse to graze at, just as they would a haynet.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Made from 100% Timothy grass, harvested at a mature stage for naturally low sugars.
- Superior high fibre content, with nutrition likened to good-quality high-fibre hay.
- Quick-soaking 12mm pellets that need virtually no chewing.
- Naturally low in sugar (under 11%) and very low in starch (under 0.5%).
- Very palatable, and accepted by fussy horses.
- Pure forage with nothing added — so it can be fed generously, with no limit on meal size.
Suitable For
- Horses and ponies unable to eat hay.
- Veterans with worn, loose or missing teeth.
- Horses recovering from dental treatment or surgery.
- Horses sensitive to dust in hay.
- Use as a low-calorie feed, or a partial or full hay replacer.
Feeding
- Introduce gradually over a week, as with any new feed.
- Soak before feeding — the pellets soak quickly into a soft mash.
- As a hay replacer, feed up to 0.5% of the horse's ideal bodyweight in dry weight daily — around 2.5kg for a 500kg horse, which soaks to roughly five times its volume.
- For an economical hay replacer with very low sugar and starch, soak two parts HayCare to one part PuraBeet.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: 100% dried Timothy grass. 20kg bag.
- Crude protein 7–11%. Crude fibre 25–35%. Sugar under 11%. Starch under 0.5%.
- Simple System avoid ryegrass entirely, preferring naturally lower-sugar grasses such as Timothy, fescue and mixed native species.
- No vitamins are added; the forage carries them naturally. Seasonal variation occurs and each bag details the batch analysis.
