Lucie Fibre Cubes are Simple System's highest-fibre, lowest-sugar lucerne — 27–37% fibre and under 7% sugar, pressed into 6mm cubes. They are the feed the company itself names first when asked what to give a laminitis-prone horse, and the reason is the numbers rather than the marketing.

Being lucerne rather than grass, they also bring something grass pellets can't: a different forage type. Gut microbes do better on variety than on monotony, so a horse eating hay all winter benefits from a second plant in the diet even when the calorie count stays low.

Feeding

• Introduce gradually over a week, as with any new feed.
• Ideally fed soaked — 2 to 2.5 parts water to 1 part cubes.
• Alternatively, mix with soaked PuraBeet or a Simple System chop and dampen well.
• Start with 100g per 100kg bodyweight per day, dry weight before soaking, increasing as required up to 5kg per day.
• For an economical hay replacer with very low sugar and starch, soak two parts Lucie Fibre Cubes to one part PuraBeet.
