Skinner's Field & Trial Maintenance – 2.5kg
The low-energy food in the Field & Trial dry range: 18% protein and 11% fat, for a dog whose workload has dropped or who puts weight on easily. Maize leads the composition, followed by wheat, poultry meat meal and barley.
This is the between-seasons ration rather than a sensitivity diet. It contains both wheat and barley, so a dog that reacts to either needs one of the rice-based foods instead.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Crude protein 18% and crude fat 11% — the lowest energy of Skinner's Field & Trial dry foods.
- 358 kcal per 100g, so the bowl stays a familiar size while the protein and fat come down.
- Beet pulp for digestible fibre, which helps a dog on a reduced ration feel fed.
- Vitamin A at 17,500 IU per kg and vitamin D3 at 2,000 IU per kg.
- Complete food — nothing else needs adding to it.
- 2.5kg bag, the right size for one dog or a short spell out of season.
Suitable For
- Dogs at a low to moderate activity level, in or outside the working season.
- Dogs prone to putting weight on.
- Dogs convalescing and needing a reduced-energy diet for a spell.
- Not for a dog sensitive to wheat or barley — both are in the recipe; Skinner's Field & Trial Lamb & Rice is the rice-based alternative.
- Not for puppies — Skinner's Field & Trial Puppy & Junior Duck & Rice covers growth.
Feeding
- Feed dry, or moisten a few minutes before serving with a little tepid water.
- Skinner's publish their daily amounts on the pack and through an interactive feeding guide on their own website rather than as a printed table, so none are quoted here.
- Weigh the ration if you are feeding this to bring a dog's weight down, and reassess condition every few weeks.
- Introduce gradually over about a week when changing foods.
- Fresh drinking water available at all times.
- Sold VAT free under the working dog food classification — a tax treatment, not a statement about the recipe or about which dogs it suits.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: maize, wheat, poultry meat meal, barley, poultry fat, beet pulp, vitamins and minerals.
- Analytical constituents: crude protein 18%, crude oils and fats 11%, crude fibres 2.6%, crude ash 5.6%.
- Energy content (ME) 358 kcal per 100g.
- Nutritional additives per kg: vitamin A 17,500 IU, vitamin D3 2,000 IU, vitamin E 200 IU, plus iron, iodine, copper, manganese, zinc and selenium.
- Some listings describe this food as made with British chicken and free from artificial flavourings, colourants and preservatives. Skinner's declare poultry meat meal as the meat ingredient and publish no such additive claim, so neither is repeated here.
