Red Gorilla Multi Shovel – Yard, Stable and Snow Shovel
The Multi Shovel is Red Gorilla's long-handled, wide-scoop tool for moving loose material in bulk: bedding and muck in the stable, leaves and compost in the garden, snow off a path in January. The head is 43cm across on every version they make, which is a genuinely wide bite compared with a garden spade.
It is a shifting tool rather than a digging one. The deep scoop and the balance point well down the shaft let you take a big load and swing it into a barrow without much lifting from the back, which is what makes a long morning of skipping out bearable.
<>Performance & Benefits
- 43cm-wide head with a deep scoop, so bedding, muck, leaves and snow move in fewer passes.
- Long handle keeps you upright, so the work comes from the legs rather than the lower back.
- Well-balanced, which matters more than raw strength when the same movement is repeated for an hour.
- Red Gorilla describe it as resistant to weather and wear, performing year-round in mud or snow.
- Smooth scoop that hoses clean rather than holding wet bedding in the corners.
- Red Gorilla sell a replacement head separately, so a worn scoop need not mean a new shovel.
Suitable For
- Mucking out, skipping out and moving shavings, straw and muck.
- Clearing snow from yards, paths, ramps and doorways.
- Shifting leaves, compost, soil, sand and gravel in the garden.
- Anyone who has been mucking out with a garden spade and wants a proper width of scoop.
- Not a digging tool. It will not break hard, stony or frozen ground — use a steel spade for that and this for moving what is already loose.
How to Use
- Push from the legs with the shaft low in your trailing hand, rather than lifting from the back.
- Load the scoop and lift straight; do not swing a full head sideways, which twists the shaft.
- Rinse mud, muck and road salt off after use and stand it head-down to drain.
- Store it under cover in a hard frost — any plastic is at its most brittle when it is cold.
Specification
- Head width 43cm across the Multi Shovel range.
- Red Gorilla publish 157cm overall for the Multi Shovel with D Handle and with Small D Handle, and 143cm for the Multi Shovel with Straight Handle. This listing does not say which handle is supplied, so no single length is given here.
- Red Gorilla list the Multi Shovel in black, blue, pink, pistachio, purple, red, sky blue and yellow. This listing names no colour.
- Red Gorilla publish no material, no weight and no non-sparking claim for the Multi Shovel.
- This listing previously described the shovel as UV and frost-resistant polypropylene and non-sparking. Those are Red Gorilla's claims for the separate one-piece Gorilla Shovel, not for the Multi Shovel, so they are not repeated here.
Care & Caution
- Overloading a wide scoop is what breaks long-handled shovels. Take two lighter loads rather than one that makes the shaft bend.
- Do not use it to chip ice or lever under frozen bedding. Levering is what snaps a shovel, and cold material gives less than you expect.
