Sundown Egg-e-Bed Chopped Straw Poultry Bedding – 19kg

Egg-e-Bed is finely chopped British wheat straw put through a vacuum double dust-extraction before baling, and it is made for poultry rather than borrowed from the horse side of Sundown's range. The short chop is the reason it works in a nest box: it stays where a hen puts it, instead of sliding out over the lip the way long straw does.

A eucalyptus fragrance is added during baling. Sundown are straightforward that it is a fragrance — it keeps a coop smelling clean and keepers report it discourages flies, but it is not sold or approved as an insecticide. The straw itself is a by-product of the British grain harvest and composts down quickly once it comes out of the house.

  • Vacuum double dust-extracted, which is the part that matters for a bird's respiratory tract.
  • Short chop holds its shape in a nest box and stays put as floor litter.
  • Eucalyptus fragrance added during baling keeps the coop smelling fresh.
  • Suitable for poultry of all ages, from chicks through to laying hens.
  • Composts down quickly into a usable garden fertiliser after use.
<>

How to Use
  • Lay enough on the floor that birds can scratch, dust-bathe and rest in it.
