Super Codlivine The Joint Supplement – 2.5kg

The Joint Supplement is the mobility product in the Super Codlivine range, a long-established British cod liver oil line that most people meet through The Complete Supplement. It is fed by the scoop into a normal feed, and a 2.5kg tub lasts an ordinary horse a good while.

One thing to be straight about before you buy: Super Codlivine have no website of their own. They are carried by a long list of retailers, but there is no manufacturer page setting out the ingredient list, the analysis or the feeding rate, so nothing of that kind is reproduced below. The tub's own label is the authority on all three.

Performance & Benefits
  • A 2.5kg tub, fed by the scoop alongside normal hard feed.
  • Part of the Super Codlivine range, which is built around cod liver oil.
  • Sold specifically as the joint and mobility product rather than the general conditioning one.
  • A palatable format that mixes into a feed without the fuss of a liquid oil.
  • Barcode 5027286031813 identifies this as the 2.5kg joint supplement rather than The Complete Supplement.

Suitable For
  • Horses and ponies being supported through an ordinary working life.
  • Owners already using Super Codlivine who want the joint product rather than the general one.
  • Feeding as part of an otherwise balanced ration.
  • Not a veterinary treatment. A horse that is lame, or stiff enough to worry you, needs a vet rather than a supplement.
  • Not one to buy if you need to check an ingredient list before you feed it. Where that matters — a competition horse, or one on veterinary medication — read the tub before opening it, or choose a supplement whose maker publishes their declarations.
<>
Feeding
  • Follow the feeding rate printed on the tub. It is the only rate Super Codlivine issue, since they publish none online.
  • Mix it into a normal feed rather than feeding it dry.
  • Introduce it over several days, as with any new supplement.
  • Joint supplements are generally fed over months rather than weeks; judge it over a season, not a fortnight.
  • Fresh water available at all times.
<>
Composition & Analysis
  • Super Codlivine publish no manufacturer website. We could find no page of theirs stating a composition, an analytical constituents panel or a feeding rate.
  • No composition or analysis is therefore quoted here. Several retailers list ingredient claims for it; those are not the manufacturer's own declarations and have not been carried across.
  • The declared composition, analytical constituents, additives and feeding rate are printed on the tub.
  • 2.5kg tub. Barcode 5027286031813.

Care & Caution
  • Because no ingredient list is published online, a competition rider cannot check this against current FEI or BHA prohibited substance rules before buying. Read the tub, and if in doubt ask your vet or your governing body.
  • Cod liver oil carries vitamins A and D. Feeding it alongside another vitamin-supplemented product or a fortified balancer risks doubling up — check the ration as a whole.
  • Take veterinary advice before feeding it to a pregnant mare, or to a horse already on medication.
  • Keep the tub closed. Oil-based supplements go rancid once they have been left open.
