Supreme Russel Rabbit Tasty Mix – 12.5kg

This is the sack size, and it is bought for the same reason people buy any sack: a household with several rabbits, or a rescue, gets through 850g bags faster than it is comfortable to keep replacing them. At 12.5kg it holds roughly a fortnight's feed for ten average 2.5kg rabbits, and the price per kilo is a long way below the small bags of the identical recipe.

The mix itself is Supreme's pellet-free everyday food for adult rabbits — extruded wheat, flaked peas and maize, Timothy hay, alfalfa and whole oats, with no added sugars and natural prebiotics for gut health. Because it is a loose mix rather than a uniform nugget, rabbits work through it with their teeth and noses rather than emptying a bowl in a minute.

Performance & Benefits
  • Pellet-free recipe: every component is one a rabbit recognises and will eat, so nothing is bulked out with ground-up pellet.
  • Timothy hay in the mix itself, which Supreme name as the fibre source alongside the hay you feed separately.
  • No added sugars, and natural prebiotics for digestive health.
  • Calcium and phosphorus balanced at 0.6% and 0.4% — the ratio Supreme publish for this recipe.
  • Fortified to 20,000 IU vitamin A, 2,000 IU vitamin D3 and 100mg vitamin E per kilogram.
  • Encourages natural foraging, which matters more in a multi-rabbit set-up where boredom shows quickly.
<>
Suitable For
  • Adult rabbits of every breed, from Netherland Dwarf up to the giant breeds.
  • Households with three or more rabbits, rescues and boarding, where a 12.5kg sack is used before it goes stale.
  • Owners who want a mix their rabbits will actually finish rather than a nugget they tolerate.
  • Not for growing rabbits under about six months — Supreme make Russel Junior Tasty Mix for those.
  • Not the right format for a rabbit with existing dental disease or a habit of picking out the cereal and leaving the fibre; a uniform food such as Russel Rabbit Tasty Nuggets removes the choice.
<>
Feeding
  • Supreme's rate is 25g per kilogram of bodyweight per day, split into two meals.
  • An average 2.5kg rabbit therefore takes around 60–70g a day — so a 12.5kg sack is roughly 180 rabbit-days at that weight.
  • Unlimited fresh hay is the bulk of the diet; this mix is the measured part alongside it.
  • Add a small handful of fresh leafy greens daily and keep clean drinking water available at all times.
  • Do not top the bowl up until what is already in it has been eaten — that is what keeps a mix balanced.
  • Introduce any change of food gradually over a week or so.
