Supreme Gerty Guinea Pig Tasty Mix – 2.5kg
A 2.5kg bag is the practical size for a pair of guinea pigs — the way most people keep them, since pigs should not live alone. At Supreme's 40–50g a day per pig that is around four weeks of feed, which is short enough that the stabilised vitamin C is still near its declared 420mg per kilogram when the last handful goes in the bowl.
Gerty is a loose mix rather than a nugget, built from extruded wheat, flaked peas and maize, alfalfa and soya bean meal, with prebiotics and no added sugar. It is formulated for all life stages, so a pair of youngsters and a pair of older pigs can be fed from the same bag.
<>Performance & Benefits
- 420mg of stabilised vitamin C per kilogram — the nutrient guinea pigs cannot synthesise and must get from the diet.
- 16% protein, 8% crude fibre and 4% fat, as declared by Supreme.
- No added sugar, with natural prebiotics for digestive health.
- Balanced at 0.6% calcium to 0.5% phosphorus.
- Pack size that is emptied in about a month by a pair, so nothing sits half-used.
- Varied textures — flakes, extrudate and alfalfa — keep pigs interested at mealtimes.
Suitable For
- A pair or trio of guinea pigs, the usual way they are kept.
- Guinea pigs of any age, from weaned youngsters to veterans.
- Owners who rotate fresh vegetables and want a measured dry feed alongside.
- Not a rabbit food: the vitamin C and mineral balance are set for guinea pigs. Russel Rabbit Tasty Mix is the rabbit equivalent.
- Not enough for a group of four or more over a month — the 12.5kg sack works out considerably cheaper per kilo at that number.
Feeding
- Feed 40–50g a day to an average adult guinea pig, as Supreme advise.
- A pair on 50g each will finish this bag in about 25 days.
- Unlimited good quality hay at all times, plus a daily handful of fresh leafy greens.
- Clean drinking water must be available constantly.
- Let the bowl empty before refilling, and introduce a change of food over about a week.
