TopSpec Senior Feed Balancer – 15kg

Senior Feed Balancer puts a joint supplement inside a balancer. Glucosamine HCl appears in the declared composition and TopSpec state the recommended rate supplies 10 grams a day to a 500kg horse — the same daily dose as their standalone 10:10 Joint Support. For an owner currently buying a balancer and a joint supplement separately, that is one product instead of two.

Underneath, it is a full-specification balancer: 25% protein at 12.5 MJ/kg, biotin at 30mg/kg, calcium 2.4% and magnesium 0.6%, with mannan oligosaccharides for the hindgut. TopSpec aim it at stiff elderly horses that are also short of muscle, topline and condition, and where hay has become hard to chew they recommend pairing it with soaked FibrePlus Cubes.

Performance & Benefits
  • Glucosamine HCl in the declared composition, supplying 10g a day to a 500kg horse at the recommended rate.
  • 25% protein at 12.5 MJ/kg, aimed at veterans that have lost muscle and topline.
  • Biotin at 30mg/kg — 15mg a day for a 500kg horse.
  • Vitamin E at 1,500iu/kg, calcium 2.4%, magnesium 0.6%.
  • Mannan oligosaccharides included as a prebiotic, with 8.0% fibre and 7.5% starch.
  • Replaces a separate joint supplement, which usually works out cheaper than buying both.
<>
Suitable For
  • Elderly horses and ponies showing stiffness alongside loss of condition.
  • Veterans that can no longer chew enough long forage.
  • Older horses lacking muscle development and topline.
  • Owners currently feeding a balancer and a joint supplement separately.
  • Not the right balancer for an overweight veteran or one prone to laminitis — TopSpec Lite Feed Balancer or AntiLam Forage Balancer suit those, though neither carries glucosamine.
<>
Feeding
  • Feed 100g per 100kg bodyweight daily — 500g for a 500kg horse, usually split as 250g in each of two feeds.
  • A half-pint mug holds roughly 200g. A 15kg sack lasts a 500kg horse 30 days, or a 250kg pony 60 days.
  • Where hay or haylage can no longer be chewed, replace it partly or wholly with soaked TopSpec FibrePlus Cubes.
  • Do not feed a separate glucosamine supplement alongside without adding up the combined daily total — this balancer already supplies 10g.
  • Provide access to a salt lick at all times, and clean fresh water.
