Woof Wear Club Brushing Boot – Black, Extra Large
Extra Large is the top of the Club Brushing Boot range, and on Woof Wear's own chart it appears only as a hind size: the hind legs of large horses of 16.3hh and over. Hind legs are longer and heavier-boned than front legs on the same horse, which is why a 17hh horse can wear a Large in front and need this XL behind.
The construction is the same throughout the range — a 7mm neoprene base carrying a toughened vinyl and PU strike pad on the inside face, closed with Woof Wear's Secure-Grip hook and loop straps. The pad sits over the fetlock and lower cannon and absorbs the strike from the opposite hoof. Supplied as a pair.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Cut long and wide enough for the hind cannon of a big horse, where a Large rides up and gapes.
- Toughened vinyl and PU strike pad on the inside face, taking the blow from the opposite hind hoof.
- 7mm neoprene base for padding that spreads an impact rather than concentrating it.
- Low water retention, so the boots stay light through a wet session rather than filling up.
- Secure-Grip hook and loop straps, long enough to close properly on a heavy limb.
- Machine washable at 30°C.
Suitable For
- Hind legs on horses of 16.3hh and over.
- Heavy-boned warmbloods, drafts and big Irish types that outgrow a Large behind.
- Schooling, hacking, lungeing and turnout.
- Horses that brush behind and mark the inside of the opposite fetlock.
- Not a hock boot and not a tendon boot — it gives no support and no hock cover.
- Oversized for front legs on almost any horse. On the front, Woof Wear's chart tops out at Large; buy the Woof Wear Club Brushing Boot in Large for the fronts of a 16.3hh-plus horse.
How to Use
- Fit with the strike pad against the inside of the hind leg, straps fastening front to back and outwards.
- Sit the top edge below the hock so the boot cannot catch or chafe as the hock flexes.
- Check the boot cannot be turned by hand, then check you can still slide a finger under the top edge.
- Close all straps before washing. Machine wash at a maximum of 30°C on a gentle spin with non-biological detergent.
- Do not tumble dry and do not leave in strong sunlight.

- Woof Wear publish their brushing boot size guide as a chart image rather than as text and give no cannon circumference or boot length figures, so none are quoted here.
Care & Caution
- Grit trapped under a hind boot rubs quickly, and a hind leg is the one you look at least. Turn the boots out and check the skin after every use.
- Neoprene holds heat. These are for working and turnout in, not for leaving on day and night.
- Stop using the boot if the strike pad has split or the hook and loop no longer holds — a boot that rotates does more harm than none at all.
