Woof Wear Club Overreach Boot – Black, Small

An overreach boot, or bell boot, is a different animal from a brushing boot. It goes on the front feet and hangs down over the heel, so that when the hind foot swings too far forward and catches the front one, the blow lands on the boot instead of on the heel bulbs and coronet. That single strike is what pulls shoes and opens up the back of the heel.

The Club Overreach Boot is Woof Wear's everyday version: a 5mm neoprene body with extra padding through the strike zone, a smooth no-rub collar at the top, and a no-turn device that stops the boot spinning round the pastern so the padded section stays where it is needed. In Small it fits the front feet of ponies of roughly 13.2–14.1hh. Supplied as a pair.

Suitable For

How to Use

• Fit to the front feet, one boot per foot, with the no-turn device sitting at the back over the heel.
• Fasten so the boot sits on the pastern without dragging on the coronet band, then check it will not rotate by hand.
• The bottom edge should hang just below the heel bulbs. Any lower and the horse treads on it.
• Rinse mud off after use, or close the straps and machine wash at a maximum of 30°C on a gentle spin with non-biological detergent.
• Do not tumble dry and do not leave in strong sunlight.

• Woof Wear publish their overreach boot sizing as a chart image rather than as text, and retailer versions of that chart do not fully agree, so measure round the pastern and compare with a boot that already fits rather than going by height alone.

Care & Caution

• Overreach boots rub at the pastern more than any other boot. Take them off after work, wash the mud out and check the skin at the back of the heel.
• Not for permanent turnout wear. A wet, mud-filled bell boot left on for days will scald the pastern.
• Replace the boot once the strike zone has worn thin — a bell boot that has been cut through is no longer protecting anything.
