Woof Wear Reflective Club Boot – Hi Vis Orange, Small
Brushing is the injury this boot exists to prevent: a horse whose action brings one hoof close to the opposite leg, catching the inside of the fetlock and lower cannon and eventually splitting the skin there. The padded PU strike pad on the inside face of this boot is what takes that blow, sitting on a 7mm neoprene base that spreads the impact.
The hi vis orange strapping adds the second reason to buy it. Fluorescent by day, reflective under headlights, and low on the leg where a driver's eye catches movement first. In Small, Woof Wear's chart puts the boot on the front legs of ponies of 12.2–14.1hh, or the hind legs of smaller ponies of 10.0–13.1hh. Supplied as a pair.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Padded PU strike pad positioned over the exact spot a brushing blow lands.
- 7mm neoprene base, the same construction as the plain Club Boot.
- Fluorescent orange straps with reflective banding for day and night visibility.
- Secure-Grip hook and loop fastening, chosen because cheap hook and loop stops holding once it fills with hair.
- Low water retention, so the boots stay light through a wet school.
- Machine washable at 30°C.
Suitable For
- Front legs on ponies of 12.2–14.1hh.
- Hind legs on smaller ponies of 10.0–13.1hh.
- Ponies that brush, dish or plait and mark the inside of the opposite leg.
- Road work, and riding in the dark half of the year.
- Not a tendon boot and gives no support; a jumping pony needing tendon cover wants an open-fronted tendon boot.
- Too small in front above about 14.1hh — step up to the Medium, or the Medium Extra Wide for a wide-legged native.
How to Use
- Fit with the strike pad against the inside of the leg and the straps fastening front to back, outwards.
- Set the pad over the fetlock and lower cannon, top edge below the knee or hock.
- Fasten firmly enough that the boot will not rotate, loosely enough for a finger under the top edge.
- Close all straps before washing. Machine wash at a maximum of 30°C on a gentle spin with non-biological detergent.
- Do not tumble dry and do not dry in strong sunlight.

Care & Caution
- Sand and grit between the neoprene and the skin causes rubs faster than the boot itself ever will. Knock them out and check the legs after use.
- Neoprene holds heat. Do not leave these on around the clock, particularly on wet or muddy legs.
- Wash the mud off to keep the reflective banding working, and do not rely on hi vis alone on a road at dusk.
