Woof Wear Ultra Overreach Boot – Black, Extra Large

Extra Large covers the front feet of big horses of 16.3hh and over. On a horse that size an overreach is a heavy blow — a big hind foot arriving on the back of a front heel takes the shoe, the clenches and often a lump of the heel bulb with it — which is why the Ultra is built out of Kevlar-coated 10mm neoprene rather than the thin neoprene of a conventional bell boot.

The boot goes on the front feet and is cut extra deep so it covers the whole shoe, then trimmed to length so the bottom edge just clears the ground on your horse's stride. Woof Wear also list an XXL above this size, so a very large horse is still catered for. Supplied as a pair.

How to Use

• Fit to the front feet, one per foot, and confirm by hand that the boot cannot be turned round the pastern.
• Stand the horse square on a hard surface and assess the ground clearance before trimming.
• Trim gradually with sharp scissors until the bottom edge just clears the ground when the foot is loaded.
• Rinse or, with the straps closed, machine wash at a maximum of 30°C on a gentle spin with non-biological detergent.
• Do not tumble dry and do not leave in strong sunlight.

Care & Caution

• Trimmed edges are hard edges. Check the pastern after the first few wearings and soften the cut if it is marking the skin.
• Take them off after work, wash out the grit and check the skin behind the heel. A deep boot holds mud against the pastern and scalds it.
• Do not leave them on continuously through turnout. They need taking off, emptying and drying.
